Brief Biography

Tianjiong (Yves) Yao received his B.S. and Engineer degrees in bioengineering from University of Technology of Compiègne (UTC), France, in 2012. He then received his M.S. degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology at Brandeis University in 2015, where he worked with Lizbeth Hedstrom. He joined the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as a graduate student in biochemistry in Fall 2015, where (after rotations) he joined the laboratory of Prof. Scott K. Silverman to study deoxyribozymes. He obtained his Ph.D. in April 2021. As of January 2022, he is Scientist I at AB Biosciences in Concord, Massachusetts.

Research Interests

My research efforts in the Silverman lab focused on identifying new deoxyribozymes that catalyze lysine acylation reactions.
